My dad had one identical to this, right down to the traditional Citroen colours of maroon and black. Passed down to him from my grandfather, “Bessie” (as he called her) was his pride and joy. I often attended vintage car show with him in it and he even entered the odd hillclimb or two. Never a “show” car, it was a car for driving and he was always fettling with the engine on weekends. He kept the car running until a serious stroke meant he couldn’t drive it any more. After my dad’s death, she was sold to a collector who undertook a sensitive restoration on it.
In over eighty years of ownership our car had five generations of the same family ride in it, which must be some kind of record. Based on the B14, the Citroen 12/24 was built in Slough in 1927 exclusively for the British market and along with the one in this photograph (a 1928 model) is one of only two still in existence.
